Our Story

“In every conceivable manner, the family is the link to our past and the bridge to our future.”

                                                      -Alex Haley

In the 21st century we are constantly inundated with social media and other forms of technology that seem to make our world smaller by allowing us to maintain virtual contact with everyone. Yet, the business of living and the isolation sanctioned by the same technologies often creates distance between beloved family and friends. This can make building and maintaining relationships just surface and superficial…But there’s nothing superficial about Our Family! Our roots are deep and our history is rich. Our history is not just facts about lineage, it is comprised of the experiences, sacrifices, struggles and triumphs of people who came before us and impacted our lives. So in an effort to grow and build relationships; to celebrate, show appreciation for, and learn from our history; let us gather together—at the family reunion.

Everyone visiting this site is doing so directly or indirectly because of one man and one woman Daniel (Web) and Ida.

Web’s father, Brister Regan was born enslaved on the plantation of John D. Regan in Robenson County, NC.  The community was called Barkers Ten Miles.  Brister came to Bladen County, Hollow Township with his mother, who was also enslaved.  Brister lived to the age of 102 and died in the late 1920’s.  He was about 40 years old when the slaves were freed. Brister, whose life spanned over 100 years— survived chattel slavery, lived thought a Civil War, obtained and farmed his OWN land through the turbulent years of Reconstruction, and raised a family through the perils of the segregated Jim Crow South. The persons represented on this site are the direct descendants of Brister’s baby boy-- Daniel Webster Regan.
